What is SproutKid?

SproutKid is a moderated AI companion for teenagers aged 13–18, set up and controlled by a parent. Your teen can chat, ask questions, and get homework help — with safety filtering applied to every message, and signs of distress taken seriously.

What ages is it for?

It's designed for teenagers aged 13 to 18. It isn't for children under 13, and the date of birth entered for each profile is checked against that minimum age.

How does the safety filtering work?

Every message your teen sends and every reply the companion gives is screened by multiple layers, and SproutKid is designed to block sexual and violent content. If a conversation shows signs that a teen may be struggling, the companion encourages them to talk to a trusted adult and shows local help-line information rather than carrying on as normal. No automated system is perfect, which is why we always encourage parents to stay involved.

Can I see and control what my child does?

Yes — the account is yours. You can review your child's conversation history, set an optional 4-digit profile PIN, and delete a conversation, a whole child profile, or the entire account at any time from inside the app.

What data do you collect? Do you sell it?

We collect only what's needed to run the service safely, we show no advertising, and we never sell personal data. Your child's conversations are not used by our AI providers to train their models. The details are in our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy page.

Which AI does SproutKid use?

SproutKid uses leading AI models to generate responses, with additional safety checks layered on top of both the incoming message and the outgoing reply. We use these providers on terms where your child's conversations are not used to train their models.

How much does it cost? Is there a trial?

SproutKid is €6.99 per month, and it starts with a 5-day free trial. A payment method is required to begin the trial, you won't be charged during it, and you can cancel any time before it ends.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel whenever you like; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep access until then.

What devices does it work on?

SproutKid runs in a web browser and can be added to a phone's home screen like an app, so it works across phones, tablets, and computers.

Is SproutKid a replacement for a counsellor or crisis line?

No — and we're firm about this. SproutKid is an AI companion, not a counselling, medical, or emergency service. If your child may be in danger or in crisis, please contact a trusted adult, a crisis line in your country, or your local emergency number. The companion is designed to point toward real human help, never to replace it.

How do I get started?

A parent creates the account, sets up a profile for their teen (with their date of birth, to confirm they're 13+), and the teen can start chatting. See our Help centre for step-by-step guidance.
